Coaches and Directors
Coach Matt has been the Head Coach of Irish Aquatics since June of 2012. In his time with the team, the club has grown from under 100 swimmers to over 300. In addition to program growth, the swimmers have seen a great deal of success in the pool, including over 200 individual and relay state titles won, a team state title in 2021 at the Senior State Championships, multiple national and junior national qualifiers, a 2022 Jr Pan Pacific Championship participant for Team USA, and a USA Swimming National Junior Team member. The team was awarded Bronze Medal status in the USA Swimming Club Excellence Program in 2020 and 2021 and Silver Medal status in 2022 and 2023.
Before coming to Irish Aquatics, Coach Matt was in the Cleveland, Ohio area where he served as the head coach for the Twinsburg site of University Swim Club, assistant coach for the Twinsburg High School swim team and assistant coach for John Carroll University. In South Bend, he also served as a volunteer assistant coach for the Notre Dame Men's Swim Team from 2013-2016.
A native of Detroit, MI, Coach Matt attended John Carroll University from 2001-2005. While at JCU, Coach Matt was a 4 year varsity swimmer for the Blue Streaks, winning 9 individual conference titles, earning 27 All-Conference honors, and qualifying for he 2004 NCAA DIII Championships in the 200 Freestyle. Coach Matt Graduated with a BS in Physics in 2005 and then went on to earn an MS in Medical Physics from Cleveland State University in 2008, and then a secondary teaching certificate from CSU in 2009. Coach Matt taught physics at Walsh Jesuit High School in Cuyahoga Falls, OH from 2009-2012. Coach Matt is also a licensed real estate agent. He currently lives in Granger with his wife, Deb, and his three children, Elle, Hadley, and Cade.
Coach Brian started with Irish Aquatics in May of 2014. He began his coaching career at Mishawaka High School in the fall of 1999, where he served as assistant coach to the boys and girls teams, and became head coach of the boys team in the fall of 2011. He remained in that position until spring of 2016. During this time he had many regional and state qualifiers. He currently works with the 9-10, and senior age groups with Irish Aquatics. Brian has also assisted with many of the state and national swimmers for Irish Aquatics. He is also an ASCA Level II coach.
Brian graduated from IUSB with a degree in Elementarty Education in December of 2000. He lives in Osceola with his wife Lisa and their two dogs, while their son Trevor is in college at Purdue Northwest. When Brian is not at swimming he enjoys hanging out with family and relaxing at the lake on his boat.
Coach Dennis began his coaching career in 2001 as an Assistant coach for Penn Aquatics. He later became Head Coach for Pro Swim Team in 2011. During his time with Penn and Pro he had many successes including Divisional, Age Group State, Zone and Quad Champions, and many qualifiers for all levels of USA swimming. He began coaching with Irish Aquatics in spring of 2020. Through out his time with Irish Aquatics he has assisted with all groups the team has to offer. He curently works with the 11-14: 2 group.
Coach Dennis swam for the South Bend YMCA until age ten when he found a love for baseball. He attended High school at St. Joe South Bend where he played football and baseball. He attended Holy Cross Junior College, and transfered to Franklin College to play baseball. He is now a superindenant for Herman and Getz.
Coach Danny began swimming competitively at age seven for the Michiana Marlins and continued through his senior year at Riley High School. At Riley, Danny earned Academic All American and All American Honors, placed 11th at state in the 100 breaststroke, participated in 3rd and 4th place medley relays, and earned a state championship in the 200 freestyle relay in 2007.
Danny began coaching in 2008, and has coached with Irish Aquatics since the Fall of 2021. Danny graduated from the University of Notre Dame in December 2013 with an English major and Economics minor. He enjoys working with all ages and abilities.
Natasha began coaching with Irish Aquatics in the fall of 2021. Over the past 24 years she has taught swim lessons and coached for Knolwood Country Club for 3 years, and the South Bend YMCA For ten years. Natasha began her swimming in a suburb of Minneapolis and swam club there for 13 years. After high school she swam at the University of Illinois and competed in the US Olympic trials in the summer of 2000 in the 200 butterfly. Here at Irish Aquatics she coaches the 11-14:2 age group. Along with her husband they have 5 girls ranging in age from 8 to 17. Three of which swim for Irish Aquatics.

Coach Leslie began coaching with Irish Aquatics in Fall of 2021. She is also a swim instructor at The Salvation Army Kroc Center and has been there since fall of 2020. Previously Coach Leslie was a Coach and Swim Instructor at the Michiana YMCA for over 25 Years. She began swimming competitively at the YMCA in South Bend at the age of 10. She swam with this program through high School due to her school not having a swim Team . She did however compete in track a and cross country at St Joe High School and was one of the first few girls in the area to run Cross Country with the boys team. This opened the door for Girls Cross Country in the area. After high school she attended Ball State University where she swam with the Cardinals for her first year. Coach Leslie is married and has 2 sons. Both of her sons swam at Penn HIgh School . Her oldest went on to compete at Carthage college for all 4 years . Her youngest is a Senior at Purdue University and was the President of the Purdue swim Club and now is treasurer For the ASHE Club (American Society of Healthcare Engineers). When not on the pool deck Coach Leslie enjoys sewing , crafting and reading. She also loves spending time with husband Terry and their 2 rescue dogs Hope and Roxie
Coach Eric began his swimming career later in life as a freshman at Mishawaka High School, He caught on quickly and had great success with team records, and two years MVP. He was a captain of the swim team for three years. Since graduating high school he as coached the Mishawaka High school team as an assitant for two seasons. He is currently doing his undergrad at IUSB.
He began coaching for Irish Aquatics in the fall of 2021 after coaching for the Michiana Stars swim team. He currently coaches the 8 & Under groups and looks forward to seeing the progress of each of his swimmers at swim meets. He still enjoys swimming in his spare time and loves the butterfly.
